Saturday morning Jason and Joslin were walking down the driveway and Joslin says "Baby owl! Baby owl!" Jason looked and sure enough- it was an owl although not a baby. It was a screech owl which is pretty small. It was sitting in our driveway looking very disoriented.

We talked with a wildlife rehabilitator and she said to put it in a box. She would meet us in Fredericktown.

Off we went with the owl! Its first car ride! We are hoping it can be rehabilitated and released back at our house. Since it is an adult the rehabilitator prefers to release it back where it was found...in familiar territory. Now we just have to hope he heals up.

The kids were really fascinated with the owl. So cool to see up close.

More from this summer...

Patrick with his dad and grandpa in the truck. Patrick got to shift which he thought was fantastic!

Joslin and Patrick found several of the "Pig and Wolf" statues around Hanover.

Metting up with some friends that moved to Rochester. It was the perfect place to stop on our way to NH. Dinner out, friends to play with. The drive that day was well worth it!

Blazin' hot at the Knox Co. Fair. We couldn't miss the school bus races!

Where does time go? Kitchen sink Ice Cream treats, the pool, T-ball, wrestling on the couch... Zip, zam, zoom and the summer is over and it is time for school. I have more pictures and stories to share but the formatting of the blog is fighting me. They will have to wait.

Sampson was invited to a tea party. He politely attended and said he enjoyed the tea and orange juice. Despite the wonderful time, he plans to decline further invitations...unless cornered on the couch again.

After carrying a grocery bag from the car to the house Patrick was worn out. He says "Whew, that really hurt my blood pressure!"

A few days after meeting Abe Lincoln Patrick asked: How did Abraham Lincoln come back to life?
Us: What?
Patrick: If he died how did he come back to life?
Us: Oh! That guys was just dressed up like Abraham Lincoln.

After sleeping really late this morning I asked Patrick "How ya feelin?"
Patrick: Well, I still have hair, see?

On the way to preschool this morning Patrick asked why couldn't we touch the sun?
Me: Well, it is very far away and it is very hot- like putting you hand in the oven.
Patrick: Then how did God put it in the sky?
Me: think, think- geesh it's early in the day for this question, think. God can do lots of things we can not do.

Patrick was talking about a friend of his...
Patrick: She has never been to preschool. She wouldn't know how to survive!
It's rough and tumble in preschool these days!

My mom has a pendant on her necklace that has a birthstone for each of her grandchildren. There are 4 round stones and she recently got the pendant back from the jeweler after he added a diamond for Joslin.
Mem: Patrick, do you see the new diamond for Joslin?
Patrick: That isn't a diamond!
Mem: Yes, it is a diamond for Joslin's birthstone.
Patrick: That is not a diamond. It's a circle!

After some school shopping I told Patrick we just needed to get him some dress shoes.
Patrick: Dress shoes? I don't wear dress shoes!
Me: You're right. You need nice shoes, not dress shoes.

I was asking Patrick what he might like for his birthday.
Patrick: I don't know.
Me: Well, if you were opening presents what would you like to unwrap?
Patrick: Whatever you want it to be! I do need four presents though since I will be 4.

We put a new swing up for Patrick yesterday so we were all out watching him swing. I had Joslin in my lap and was standing her up in the grass. Patrick says: Awww, she's so cute! She almost looks human!

Grammie: No, we each sleep in our own bed.
P: But you sleep with Grampa!
G: Yes, that's because we are married.
P: So when I get married can I sleep with Grampa?

As we headed in to church today Jim and Bonnie Magaw came past our car. Patrick says to them: "We have a giant June bug smashed on the front of our car. Wanna see it?" They humored him and said yes. When they asked how it got there Patrick said "It must not have been looking where it was going!"

We had been to a funeral so Patrick was talking about heaven and how you got there. He decided you must get there in a hot air balloon.
